Greetings from St Helens U3A Recorder Group!
We welcome anyone who shares our love of playing the recorder in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. The ability to read music is essential.
Julie's Story
"My name is Julie and am proud to say that I am a member of the St Helens U3A recorder group.
I joined last summer and despite being a bit rusty and a bag of nerves, I was warmly welcomed by Russell the group leader and his wife Hilary, two of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet.
Lots of practise, determination and a sense of humour is all it takes to learn or relearn the recorder and a great sense of achievement can be quickly gained with just a little perseverance.
When we play together, something magical happens. It's not just about making beautiful music (most of the time) it lifts the spirits, it can be joyous and wonderful, playing music together is so good for the soul!
It is an honour to play alongside some lovely people, give it a go, I am so chuffed that I did."
