This history group is a new group and our plan is to look at times in history where interpretation is clouded by misunderstanding, mythology and mystery and see if we can unpick it by using contemporary, trusted sources of evidence. We shall start by looking at the early medieval period (as Britain emerged from the so-called Dark Ages). Initially, we'll be looking at evidence that society in Britain was made up of fiefdoms/kingdoms where the succession of monarchs was based on matrilineal ideas rather than the patriarchal society that followed.
